Communications Advisor – Melbourne

About the role

The Communications Advisor will join Mallesons' Corporate Affairs team in Melbourne, supporting the firm’s content and digital marketing strategy. You will work with senior stakeholders to create compelling communications that enhance client, market and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and coordinate deal profiling, firm announcements and media releases, managing approvals and targeted distribution.
• Nurture relationships with legal trade and business media, handling enquiries and providing written commentary.
• Develop and optimise social media content, including copy, basic graphics and video, tailored to each platform.
• Produce podcasts and video stories from concept through to publication, working with the Digital team.
• Generate monthly and quarterly media coverage reports with performance analysis.

Required profile

• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling ability, able to translate complex information for varied audiences.
• Demonstrated media‑relations experience and sensitivity to reputational considerations.
• Strong interest in current affairs, business, politics, markets and law.
• Initiative, independence and the capacity to manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Media monitoring and reporting platforms.
• SharePoint, Canva and Eloqua (or similar content‑management and design tools).
• Video editing and podcast production tools.
• Use of AI tools for communications with appropriate human oversight.
