Commercial Superintendent (Mining)

About the role

We are looking for a Commercial Superintendent to lead the financial and management accounting functions at our Gunnedah open‑cut mine. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and ensuring clear communication between corporate finance, executive leadership and site teams. The role offers a 9‑day fortnight and is based in the Gunnedah region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and delivery of budgets and forecasts, driving cost control and strategic capital management.
• Analyse budget and forecast outcomes, communicate results and trends to senior management.
• Utilise budgeting/forecast systems (TM1 preferred) to support accurate financial planning.
• Present budget and forecast performance to senior leadership.
• Identify improvement and value‑creation opportunities using valuation methodologies.
• Conduct contract performance analysis and support the Commercial Manager in negotiations.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or Accounting.
• Professional membership with CPA or CA.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a capital‑intensive industry such as mining, manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong exposure to accounting, reporting, budgeting and re‑forecasting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with TM1 budgeting/forecasting system.
