Child and Family Practitioner – Family Intervention Service

About the role

The Child and Family Practitioner provides holistic, therapeutic support to vulnerable children, young people and families within the Family Intervention Service. This home‑based role focuses on case management and interventions that aim to reunify children with their biological families and maintain safety in the family home.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, best‑practice therapeutic services to children and families involved in the child protection system.
• Support reunification of children and young people from out‑of‑home care placements.
• Work with parents under Intervention with Parental Agreement to minimise child protection concerns.
• Provide case management, including assessment, planning and coordination of services.
• Conduct home‑based interventions and maintain accurate case records.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in a relevant human services field.
• Relevant experience working with children and families; child protection experience preferred.
• QLD Suitability Card (Blue Card) for child‑related employment.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Registration with a nationally recognised professional body is desirable.
