Audit Manager / Senior Manager - Private Clients

About the role

A leading Big 4 professional services firm in Sydney is recruiting an experienced Audit Manager or Senior Manager for its Private Clients practice, one of Australia's largest. The role combines complex audit and assurance engagements with senior client relationship management, technical oversight, team leadership and close collaboration with Partners and Directors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage external audit and assurance engagements for privately owned businesses, family groups and other significant private clients, including planning, execution and completion
• Act as key contact for business owners, boards, CFOs and other senior stakeholders, and build lasting client relationships
• Manage audit quality, technical standards, engagement risk, deliverables and engagement budgets, workflow and profitability
• Review financial statements against Australian Accounting Standards, review workpapers and give technical guidance on complex accounting and reporting matters
• Lead, coach and develop Assistant Managers, Senior Accountants and other audit professionals
• Contribute to business development and work with Private Clients Tax, Deals and other specialists

Required profile

• Experienced Audit Manager or Senior Manager, or a highly regarded Assistant Manager ready to progress
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Business, together with a CA or CPA qualification
• Experience auditing privately owned businesses, family groups and other substantial private clients
• Experience managing multiple audit engagements and competing client deadlines
• Experience reviewing, coaching and developing junior audit professionals

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of Australian Auditing Standards and Australian Accounting Standards
• Financial reporting, accounting standards, audit methodology and risk management
• Client relationship management, communication and problem-solving
