Associate Director – Business and Tax Advisory

About the role

KPMG Australia is seeking an Associate Director for its Business & Tax Advisory team. The role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane and involves leading tax and accounting solutions for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of tax and accounting solutions across privately owned businesses, family groups, SMEs, trusts, partnerships and international structures.
• Act as a trusted advisor, managing high‑value engagements from planning through delivery and building strong client relationships.
• Oversee complex compliance and advisory work, ensuring technical excellence and commercial value.
• Drive strategic advisory projects including structuring, growth initiatives and business transformation.
• Collaborate across KPMG to provide integrated multidisciplinary solutions and contribute to business development.
• Lead, coach and inspire a team, handling resource planning, performance management and capability uplift.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Senior Manager or Associate Director level in professional services or advisory.
• Strong background in private business tax, accounting and advisory services.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client engagements and stakeholder relationships.
• Track record of leading, coaching and developing teams.
• Commercial acumen with experience in business development and growth initiatives.

Required skills

• CA/CPA qualification completed.
