Associate CSR Engineer – Rail & Metro

About the role

SMEC, part of Surbana Jurong, is seeking an Associate CSR Engineer to join its dynamic rail team in Brisbane. You will lead combined services route (CSR) design for rail and metro projects, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure CSR design development complies with Australian standards, AMB guidelines and client requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients and other disciplines to produce coordinated, high‑quality designs.
• Apply project management principles to meet deliverables on time.
• Lead the preparation of CSR packages and support construction, maintenance and operations phases.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in rail utility engineering within an engineering design consultancy.
• Proven track record delivering major CSR designs on rail infrastructure projects.
• Professional engineering registration (CPEng or RPEQ).

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of rail utility engineering and design to AMB and Australian standards.
• Experience with 3D BIM modelling of CSR routes using software such as 12D, Civil 3D and Navisworks.
• Strong understanding of Safety in Design principles.
