Tax Accountant (Business Services & Taxation)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our growing public practice in Chatswood. The role involves working with business owners, high‑net‑worth individuals and senior management on a variety of tax and advisory matters. Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs and individuals.
• Manage BAS, IAS, GST, PAYG and payroll tax compliance.
• Provide business services and taxation support to a diverse client portfolio.
• Assist clients with bookkeeping, cloud accounting and financial reporting.
• Liaise directly with clients and respond to taxation and accounting queries.
• Support tax planning strategies and business advisory engagements.
• Ensure compliance with ATO regulations, lodgement deadlines and accounting standards.
• Review reconciliations, working papers and client financial records.
• Work collaboratively with senior accountants and managers on client engagements.
• Identify opportunities to improve client processes and deliver value‑added advice.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Australian public practice accounting.
• Proven experience in business services and taxation.
• Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for various entity structures.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification (or currently undertaking studies) preferred.
