Specialist Technician – Technical Support to Schools (TSSP)

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks, server environments and cloud services.
• Provide on‑site ICT support for large, technology‑rich learning spaces.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development sessions.
• Plan, deploy and manage 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience in education, TSSP, or comparable corporate environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa) and a current driver’s licence.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks and mobile devices.
• Technical documentation and training delivery.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rated) with top rates based on skills and experience.
