Shift Engineer – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Shift Engineer will join the Engineering team at InterContinental Sydney, one of the city’s most iconic luxury hotels. You will be responsible for keeping the hotel’s facilities, plant and equipment operating safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance and engineering operations across the entire hotel.
• Respond to maintenance requests and attend to guest and colleague requirements promptly and professionally.
• Complete preventative maintenance on hotel plant, equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently, minimising disruption to operations and guest experience.
• Ensure all engineering work is completed safely, on time and in compliance with relevant requirements.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Support project planning and delivery of maintenance initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities.

Required profile

• 2+ years’ experience in engineering, maintenance or a similar role.
• Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is highly regarded.
• Proactive approach to building strong relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritise workload effectively.
• Strong organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices.
