Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Eastern Freeway - Burke to Tram Alliance project in Melbourne. The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway; the alliance's scope includes a new interchange, road and bridge upgrades, smart traffic management upgrades and noise protection. The role offers strong career prospects with a privately owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the commercial requirements of the project
• Prepare and submit progress claims and ensure their timely payment
• Advise the project management team on contractual issues and initiate correspondence
• Prepare, review and submit reports to prescribed timescales, including equipment and cost reports
• Review change management opportunities

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Commercial Law
• Ideally MRICS membership or working towards it
• Intermediate-level experience in a similar role, in large-scale infrastructure, construction, rail or heavy industrial environments

Required skills

• Contract management, program financial management, risk and opportunity management, performance reporting, budget preparation and administration
• High level of technical and negotiation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
