Senior Project Engineer – Bulk Earthworks (Mining)

About the role

Thiess is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Eva Copper Mine Alliance and provide on‑site construction engineering support for bulk earthworks. The role is based on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, delivering safe and efficient execution of the project’s open‑pit development.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal Civil Engineer in planning, coordinating and monitoring bulk earthworks activities.
• Ensure all construction work complies with safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors and internal teams to resolve technical issues on site.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation, progress reports and risk assessments.
• Assist in managing the project schedule, budget and resource allocation for earthworks.

Required profile

• Qualified civil or mining engineer with significant experience in large‑scale earthworks projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work in remote, on‑site environments and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of Australian mining regulations and safety requirements.
• Willingness to work on a fixed‑term contract (12‑18 months) and adapt to FIFO or BIBO arrangements.
