Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

About the role

BlueRock is looking for a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join its growing Financial Reporting team in Melbourne. The role works with entrepreneurial business owners and can be full-time or part-time. It suits someone with strong technical capability and at least five years' financial reporting and/or external audit experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Tier 1 and Tier 2 general purpose financial reports, including consolidated groups
• Review and apply Australian Accounting Standards and prepare supporting schedules
• Prepare deferred tax accounting and statutory cash flow schedules
• Prepare accounting position papers and technical advice
• Manage projects to meet lodgement and audit deadlines
• Support the Transactions and Corporate Finance teams on buy-side and sell-side mandates, including financial due diligence and deal-related reporting advice
• Liaise with clients, external auditors and other key stakeholders
• Mentor, support and review the work of junior staff

Required profile

• 5+ years' experience in financial reporting and/or external audit
• 3+ years in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm
• Degree qualification and CA or CPA completed or near completion
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills
• Exposure to transactions or corporate finance work (financial due diligence, business valuations, buy-side/sell-side support) is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
• Deferred tax accounting and cash flow statement preparation
