Pay Auditing Specialist

About the role

Adelaide University is hiring a Pay Auditing Specialist within its People & Culture team, based at the City West Campus. The role sits in the Quality and Compliance team and works across payroll, risk, audit and compliance to make sure university employees are paid accurately and compliantly. It is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Identify payroll risks and strengthen controls
• Help ensure accurate and compliant payment of university employees
• Support regulatory compliance and provide assurance that protects staff and the University
• Turn insights into action and help build a culture of accuracy, accountability and trust
• Work with stakeholders across People and Culture to drive best-practice payroll governance and identify improvements

Required profile

• Analytical, detail-oriented payroll professional with experience in payroll audit, compliance and risk management
• Keen eye for spotting issues, improving controls and ensuring legislative compliance
• Strong communicator and collaborator who builds relationships across teams
• Proactive, solutions-focused and committed to continuous improvement

Required skills

• Experience in payroll functions with understanding of payroll processes and controls
• Experience in internal audit, assurance or related roles supporting audit and compliance
• Ability to analyse complex data and apply payroll and HR control frameworks
• Ability to produce high-quality documentation and reports in line with audit standards
• Experience with risk and control frameworks and handling sensitive information
