About the role
The City of Canterbury Bankstown is seeking a dedicated Parks Assistant to join its Parks Unit. Working within a small team, you will help maintain council parks, sports fields, nature strips and other open‑space assets for a diverse community of over 380,000 residents.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain parks, sports fields, nature strips and open‑space areas in line with service agreements and rosters.
- Conduct risk and hazard assessments and take corrective action where required.
- Identify and report landscape deficiencies, especially relating to park maintenance.
- Operate plant and equipment such as ride‑on mowers, brush cutters, edgers and blowers.
- Use minor plant items and hand tools for routine tasks.
- Collect litter, clean park amenities and report equipment faults.
Required profile
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Experience in parks and open‑space maintenance.
- Ability to work safely and meet service timeframes.
Required skills
- Operation of ride‑on and push mowers.
- Use of brush cutters, edgers and leaf blowers.
- Proficiency with hand tools for landscaping tasks.
