About the role
The Baralaba Multipurpose Health Service is seeking a Medical Officer to provide both hospital and private‑practice services in a rural setting. The role includes emergency response, general practice medicine and primary health care across a 24/7 roster.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver clinical care to in‑patients, out‑patients and emergency patients in accordance with professional credentials.
- Run a daily public outpatient clinic and conduct ward rounds at Baralaba MPHS.
- Maintain a 24‑hour, 7‑day roster to ensure continuous medical coverage.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to keep skills aligned with contemporary rural practice.
Required profile
- MBBS (or equivalent) and eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certifications.
- Enrollment in a Specialist General Practice training program or the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS).
- Commitment to pursue or hold Fellowship of FACRRM or FRACGP.
- Emergency medicine experience and interest in rural generalist practice.
- Knowledge of general practice surgery, minor operations and skin‑lesion removal; some exposure to emergency obstetrics is desirable.

What we offer
- Total remuneration up to $350,690 per annum.
- Base salary between $187,569 and $199,273 per annum (MOR1‑1 to MOR1‑3).
- 12.75 % employer superannuation contribution.
- 17.5 % leave loading.
- Professional development leave and allowances valued at $22,145 per annum (3.6 weeks).
- Overtime and on‑call allowances.
- Motor vehicle provision.
