Lesson Designer (Science Content)

About the role

Curriculum Associates' Stile team designs the science lessons used by tens of thousands of Australian students, covering topics from the life cycle of stars to plastic in the oceans. The role is a lesson designer who turns writers' drafts into engaging, interactive lessons, combining visual design with interaction skills. It is a full-time, permanent position based in Melbourne.

Key responsibilities

• Design engaging lessons with the content team, working within the existing Stile design language while pushing creative possibilities across digital and print.
• Create interactive experiences such as simulations, drag-and-drop activities and data visualisations, balancing effort, classroom context and timing.
• Create, edit and adapt scientific illustrations, diagrams, labelled figures and process visuals.
• Work closely with writers, learning designers and engineers from the concept stage through to delivery, keeping accessibility in mind.
• Keep up with accessibility, interaction design and AI tooling, and take part in critique.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of industry experience.
• A portfolio showing consistent, high-volume work within an established visual language, with solid layout, typography, hierarchy and colour skills.
• Curiosity about interactive work, even without deep interaction design experience.
• Comfortable adapting to an existing visual language and working with writers, editors and engineers.
• Bonus: prior experience designing educational content, prototyping in code, willingness to use AI tooling, and motion and animation ability.

Required skills

• Good-to-strong Adobe Illustrator skills.
• Layout, typography, hierarchy and colour.
• Interaction design basics and interest in it.
