Information Systems Security Officer

About the role

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will support the Information Systems Security Manager in developing and managing security policies, procedures, and guidelines for operational information systems. This full‑time position is based in Alice Springs, NT, and contributes to Amentum’s mission of delivering secure, reliable solutions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with security authorization packages and report changes that may affect authorizations.
• Coordinate hardware, software, or firmware changes with the ISSM and Authorizing Official before implementation.
• Monitor system recovery processes to verify that security features are restored correctly.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security documentation, collect and review audit records, and report anomalies.
• Identify cyber‑security vulnerabilities and assist in implementing countermeasures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an ISSO role, preferably with IA certifications.
• Experience with ICD 503, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DoD 8570.1 compliance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to brief senior leadership.

Required skills

• CISSP or equivalent security certification.
• Security+ certification.
• MCSA or equivalent Microsoft certification.
• Linux operating system experience.
