Information Systems Security Officer

About the role

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will support the Information Systems Security Manager in developing and managing security policies, procedures, and guidelines for operational information systems. This full‑time position is based in Alice Springs, NT, and focuses on ensuring compliance with security authorizations and handling hardware/media sanitization.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to verify compliance with security authorization packages and notify the ISSM of any changes.
• Coordinate hardware, software, or firmware modifications with the ISSM and authorizing officials before implementation.
• Monitor system recovery processes to confirm security features are restored correctly.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security documentation, collect and review audit records, and report anomalies.
• Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist in implementing countermeasures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an ISSO role or equivalent IA certifications.
• Experience with ICD 503, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DoD 8570.1 compliance.
• Ability to obtain and retain a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance and US citizenship.

Required skills

• CISSP or equivalent security certification.
• Security+ certification.
• MCSA or equivalent Microsoft certification.
• Linux operating system experience.
• Knowledge of RMF, ICD 503, DoD 8570.1, and IAT II requirements.
