Health and Safety Manager - Regional Infrastructure Project

About the role

ACCIONA is recruiting a Health and Safety Manager for a regional infrastructure project delivering a new 500 kV double-circuit transmission line that connects more than 3,000 MW of renewable generation to the grid. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Health and Safety and leads the civil safety team across earthworks, excavation, foundations, access tracks, plant operations and temporary works. It is a regional position, and the role includes the option to be based at camp as required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safe delivery of high-risk civil activities and critical risk controls
• Lead field engagements to verify work meets approved controls
• Lead risk assessments and support SWMS, permit-to-work and temporary works controls
• Lead incident investigations and share lessons across the project
• Conduct inspections, audits and assurance, and close out corrective actions
• Assure contractor safety performance through reviews and corrective action monitoring
• Mentor the civil safety team and report performance to senior leaders
• Partner with the Civil Construction Director, superintendents and engineers to control risks across multiple, geographically dispersed work fronts

Required profile

• Tertiary OHS or related qualification, or equivalent experience
• Health and safety experience in civil or infrastructure delivery
• Proven management of high-risk work and critical risk controls
• Desirable: transmission, utilities or major linear infrastructure experience

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, audits and investigations
• Risk assessment, SWMS, permit-to-work and temporary works controls
