Fire Assayer

About the role

SGS Australia is seeking a motivated and safety‑focused Fire Assayer to join its laboratory team at Perth Airport. This full‑time position is ideal for someone with laboratory experience who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is committed to delivering accurate, high‑quality results.

Key responsibilities

• Weigh, flux, fire, knock up, and cupellate samples in the correct numerical order.
• Perform all fire assay activities following established quality control procedures while preventing contamination.
• Manage recycling and disposal of pots, slag, cupels, and other waste materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment within fire assay areas.
• Carry out basic non‑trade maintenance of fire assay equipment and complete required paperwork and electronic records accurately.

Required profile

• Previous laboratory experience.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow procedures and work safely in a laboratory environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
