Application Developer (DevOps) – Federal Government

About the role

We are seeking an Application Developer with a focus on DevOps to join a Federal Government technology team. The role is a 12‑month contract (with two optional extensions) and can be based in Canberra, Melbourne or Adelaide.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with solution design and contribute to technical design artefacts.
• Build, configure and enhance system components and integrations following agreed standards.
• Participate in sprint delivery, integration and testing activities.
• Support quality improvement through testing, defect resolution, automation of routine tasks and documentation updates.
• Transfer knowledge to team members and refine workflows.

Required profile

• Proven experience in C# or Java development.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams within a digital or IT environment.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute across design, build and test phases.
• Exposure to integration‑focused platforms such as BDE, SBR or DSG.
• Hands‑on use of Azure DevOps for tracking work, bugs, issues and risks.
