About the role
Veolia is looking for a Water Treatment Operator to join its 24/7 team at the Tomago water‑treatment complex. The successful candidate will help keep safe drinking water flowing to more than 500,000 residents across the Hunter region, working across six interconnected plants.
Key responsibilities
- Operate drinking‑water treatment plants safely and efficiently in line with the Drinking Water Guidelines.
- Monitor water‑quality parameters and record data in real time.
- Collect water samples and perform laboratory analysis to verify compliance.
- Carry out routine maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control‑system issues.
- Maintain accurate operational and maintenance logs.
- Respond to water‑quality incidents and process‑control alarms according to established protocols.
Required profile
- Experience in water‑treatment operations is preferred.
- Willingness to obtain a Cert 3 in the water industry.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including on‑call and weekend duties.
Required skills
- SCADA system and process‑control familiarity.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment used in treatment plants.
- Knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures.
- Laboratory sampling and analysis techniques.
