Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer to design, build and operate a resilient, scalable and observable platform for our engineering teams in Canberra. The role sits at the heart of our technology organisation, ensuring systems are reliable, secure and performant while enabling rapid delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and maintain core platform infrastructure and services.
• Design and operate in‑house observability and monitoring solutions.
• Build and maintain Grafana dashboards, alerts and visualisations.
• Administer and optimise MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery.
• Write and maintain scripts and services in Java, Clojure and Bash.
• Manage Linux and Windows server environments.
• Build, enhance and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply and enforce security‑hardening best practices across systems.
• Support incident response, root‑cause analysis and post‑incident documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to continuously improve reliability and performance.

Required profile

• Strong experience in platform engineering, DevOps or SRE roles.
• Hands‑on expertise with Grafana and observability tooling.
• Solid experience administering MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases.
• Proficiency in Java, Clojure and Bash scripting.
• Good understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP and routing.
• Experience managing both Linux and Windows environments.
• Proven track record with Azure DevOps and CI/CD automation.
• Focus on security, reliability and operational excellence.
• Experience supporting incident management and root‑cause analysis processes.
