Shipboard Officer & Engineering Positions – Permanent Full‑Time

About the role

CSL Australia is recruiting permanent, full‑time shipboard officers for a range of senior engineering and deck positions on its coastal bulk carrier fleet. Roles include Chief Engineer, First/Second/Third Engineer, Chief Officer and Second/Third Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee vessel engineering operations, including propulsion, power generation and auxiliary plant.
• Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient vessel performance.
• Conduct watch‑keeping duties and monitor compliance with Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) regulations.
• Manage deck operations, navigation, cargo handling and safety procedures.
• Lead and train crew members, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with shore‑based teams to support FIFO 6/6 roster and operational planning.

Required profile

• Relevant AMSA certification: Engineer Class 1 for Chief Engineer, Engineer Class 2 for First‑to‑Third Engineers, Chief Officer COC/COR for deck officers.
• Minimum sea‑time as specified (e.g., 12 months as First Engineer, 3 years as Engine Watchkeeper, 5 years as Deck Watchkeeper).
• Current AMSA medical certificate or ability to obtain one.
• Australian citizenship or eligible working rights.

Required skills

• Certificate of Safety Training (STCW) – desirable.
• Work Safely at Heights Certification – desirable.
• Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification – desirable.
• Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) – required.
