About the role
The University of Tasmania is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Research Fellow to lead a multi‑year natural capital research programme for the Australian forest industry. The role sits within the Australian Forest and Wood Innovations Centre and focuses on translating international natural‑capital frameworks into practical tools for industry adoption.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver a research programme that integrates biophysical, spatial, economic and financial data aligned with emerging standards.
- Develop processes, tools and analytical frameworks to support natural‑capital assessment, valuation and disclosure.
- Lead (Principal) or contribute (Senior) to collaborative projects with industry, government and academic partners.
- Produce high‑impact publications and secure external research funding.
- Supervise higher‑degree research students and mentor post‑doctoral and early‑career researchers.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to maximise research uptake.
Required profile
- PhD in environmental science, natural resources, economics or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in natural‑capital research, preferably within the forest sector.
- Track record of publishing in national or international journals and obtaining research grants.
- Experience supervising HDR students and leading multidisciplinary teams.
