Senior Team Leader – Child Protection

About the role

The Senior Team Leader provides strategic leadership and management for a team of Child Safety Officers, ensuring high‑quality child protection services are delivered in line with legislation, departmental policies and best practice. This role operates within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment to support children, young people, families and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage staff to deliver child protection services consistent with legislation, policies and practice guidelines.
• Allocate, prioritize and monitor work tasks in accordance with departmental frameworks and delegations.
• Develop service responses with the Service Centre Manager to meet client needs across government and non‑government sectors.
• Identify training needs and work with training specialists to design and implement appropriate programs.
• Build and maintain partnerships to enhance cross‑sector collaboration and support local service delivery.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, high‑quality people management and professional ethics.
• Participate in the Service Centre Management Team and quality assurance reviews.
• Provide specialist advice on complex casework, policy, legislation and practice.
• Promote excellence in service delivery and identify opportunities for regional improvement.

Required profile

• Proven leadership and people‑management experience in a child protection or community care setting.
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, policies and practice frameworks.
• Ability to develop service strategies, manage resources and oversee complex casework.
• Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high standards of service delivery.
