Senior Manager, Financial Crime

About the role

The Senior Manager, Financial Crime will lead and enhance the end‑to‑end financial crime lifecycle within ANZ’s Retail division, providing risk, control and regulatory assurance. The role oversees the Retail Financial Crime COE Line 1 Assurance team and drives capability uplift to align with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support the business in managing AML/CTF, sanctions and anti‑bribery & corruption risks, setting appropriate metrics and thresholds.
• Provide governance and reporting to risk and compliance committees.
• Guide implementation of financial crime regulatory change initiatives.
• Manage financial crime events, issues and breach responses.
• Lead financial crime training and capability uplift for retail employees.
• Coordinate product, channel and enterprise‑wide risk assessments across retail.
• Support responses to regulatory information requests.
• Foster collaboration with portfolio assurance, Line 2 and Line 3 teams.
• Build a high‑performing, engaging team environment.

Required profile

• Strong experience in risk, audit, legal or compliance.
• Undergraduate degree in accounting, legal or finance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale governance structures.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex governance matters to senior leaders.
• Strong understanding of the banking business.
