Senior Manager Commercial & Strategy – Freight

About the role

Lead the strategic direction of Qantas Freight’s commercial and growth agenda. This senior position reports to the Head of Planning & Performance and is based at the Head Office in Mascot, Sydney on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute Freight’s strategy, turning market insights into actionable priorities.
• Own the strategic pipeline, including business cases, governance submissions and delivery of major initiatives.
• Identify and deliver growth opportunities across fleet, network, terminal and digital investments.
• Partner with Qantas Group functions such as Network, Engineering, Finance and Operations to influence outcomes and optimise performance.
• Provide thought leadership on market trends, competitor activity and strategic opportunities.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing Commercial & Strategy team.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a strategy or commercial role.
• Proven ability to lead complex strategy development and translate insights into outcomes.
• Strong commercial acumen, including contract management experience.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability at senior leadership level.
• Experience leading teams and delivering results in cross‑functional environments.
• Ability to structure complex problems and synthesize insights into compelling narratives.
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline preferred.
