Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Datacom is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to design and deliver highly available, maintainable and repeatable solutions for our customers. You will work in an Agile, high‑performance team, collaborating with technology SMEs and leveraging Datacom’s global expertise. The role is hybrid, with three days on‑site at an Australian office and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Automate operating system deployment, configuration and security hardening.
• Install and configure application middleware platforms.
• Deploy workloads to VMware and VMware Cloud on AWS.
• Manage code deployment and platform lifecycle using CI/CD pipelines.
• Produce audit and compliance reports.
• Maintain platform high‑availability through reliable change and release processes.
• Engage with customers to design technical solutions.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV1 security clearance.
• Extensive experience with open‑source and VMware automation tools.
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
• Proven ability to research, develop and promote platform‑agnostic solutions.

Required skills

• Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server.
• Configuration Management: git, GitLab CI/CD, Puppet (including Bolt), Ansible, PowerShell DSC.
• Virtualisation: VMware, VMware Cloud on AWS.
• Networking/Load Balancing: F5 BIG‑IP (APM), Infoblox DDI, HAProxy.
• Monitoring: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana.
• CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
