Senior CloudOps Engineer - AWS - BAU & Ops Focused

About the role

As a Senior CloudOps Engineer at NCS Australia you will act as the technical escalation point for complex AWS environments, helping clients modernise applications and optimise their cloud landscape. The role is business‑as‑usual (BAU) focused and requires deep AWS expertise, strong consulting skills, and a hands‑on approach to incident response and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Level 3 escalation for AWS infrastructure, platform, and application issues.
• Design, implement and support highly available, scalable, and secure AWS solutions.
• Manage and optimise AWS environments within Microsoft‑centric ecosystems (Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure integrations).
• Provide performance, security and cost‑optimization recommendations.
• Lead incident response, problem management and root‑cause analysis for critical incidents.
• Develop code, shape requirements, and deploy solutions using Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Drive automation with CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Participate in 24 × 7 on‑call roster for production support.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in managed services or enterprise support environments.
• Senior‑level expertise with core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, etc.).
• Strong networking knowledge (VPN, Direct Connect, DNS, hybrid cloud).
• Hands‑on experience with both Microsoft and Linux platforms in AWS.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, LogicMonitor).
• Understanding of cloud security principles and compliance standards.
• Experience handling Level 3 support tickets.
