Roads Drafter – Civil Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Roads Drafter to join Aurecon’s Transport team in Western Australia, supporting major road, highway and transport infrastructure projects, including MRWA works. The role involves producing high-quality design documentation and assisting engineers throughout all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed road and highway design drawings, including alignments, long sections, cross sections, drainage layouts and pavement details following MRWA standards and Austroads guidelines.
• Produce and manage 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer and Civil 3D.
• Develop design documentation packages for tender and construction, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (drainage, structures, traffic, utilities) to integrate design elements.
• Support design reviews, model audits and drawing checks to maintain high-quality deliverables.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet project timelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Civil/Roads Drafter on WA road or highway projects, preferably with MRWA standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of road geometry, drainage and earthworks modelling.
• Experience producing detailed design and construction drawings for infrastructure projects.
• TAFE qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering Design or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
