Procurement Manager (NV1 clearance) – Canberra

About the role

This position supports a Canberra‑based professional services consultancy delivering regional security and cooperation programmes. The Procurement Manager will lead end‑to‑end procurement and contracting activities for a diverse portfolio of initiatives, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth frameworks and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full procurement lifecycle, from brief development to contract close‑out.
• Draft, review and maintain commercial documentation such as tenders, evaluation reports and contract amendments.
• Provide expert procurement and commercial advice to project teams and coordinate with legal, technical and program stakeholders.
• Lead supplier engagement, conduct tender evaluations, negotiate terms and assess commercial risks.
• Negotiate contract extensions, amendments and change requests while monitoring vendor performance.
• Ensure compliance with probity, financial and legislative standards and maintain accurate records for reporting.
• Mentor APS staff and help uplift procurement capability across the organisation.

Required profile

• Significant experience in procurement, contracting or commercial roles within government or large‑scale programmes.
• Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
• Strong written communication skills for preparing clear commercial documentation.
• Familiarity with Commonwealth procurement frameworks and probity requirements.
