Power Generation Engineer – Thermal Generation

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Power Generation Engineer focused on thermal generation technologies to join its Brisbane team. You will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver reliable, sustainable power projects from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert technical input across feasibility, concept design, construction and commissioning phases of thermal generation projects.
• Act as Owner’s Engineer technical lead, reviewing OEM designs, balance‑of‑plant engineering and performance models.
• Develop and review project documentation such as technical specifications, tender evaluations, grid‑connection studies and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with environment, planning and multidisciplinary teams on layouts, power island configurations and utility infrastructure.
• Support clients through technical due diligence, design reviews, construction monitoring and commissioning verification.
• Stay current with evolving technologies, regulations and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Experience in a technical or Owner’s Engineer role on gas‑turbine or reciprocating internal‑combustion‑engine projects across design, procurement or construction phases.
• Strong understanding of thermal generation technology, electrical systems, grid connections and civil/structural interfaces.
• Background in MV/HV electrical design, thermal energy, mechanical or civil engineering with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (IEC, ISO) and regulatory frameworks.
