Parks Maintainer – Full‑time Permanent Role

About the role

The City of South Perth is seeking a dedicated Parks Maintainer to protect, maintain and enhance the city’s parks and public open spaces. This full‑time permanent position works within the city’s environmental management plans to deliver high‑quality horticultural services across a range of community green areas.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine garden and park maintenance, including mowing, pruning, planting and mulching.
• Execute tree pruning and other horticultural tasks in line with best practice standards.
• Operate and maintain horticultural equipment safely and efficiently.
• Utilise electronic devices (mobile, tablet, computer) to record work activities and follow the work schedule.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with the public and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a horticulture or park maintenance role.
• Working knowledge of plant species, garden design, and tree care techniques.
• Current ‘C’ Class driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the city.
• Current National Police Clearance, First Aid certification and ability to obtain a Basic Worksite Traffic Management certificate if not already held.

Required skills

• Safe operation of horticultural tools and machinery.
• Ability to use mobile or tablet applications for work reporting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for team collaboration.
