Palliative Care Staff Specialist

About the role

The Palliative Care Staff Specialist will be based at Braeside Hospital in Prairiewood, NSW, on a permanent contract ranging from 0.6 to 1.0 FTE. The role supports HammondCare’s mission by delivering high‑quality palliative care to patients in South‑West Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist palliative care services to patients across inpatient, consultative, clinic and community settings.
• Maintain personal professional competence in palliative care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and senior medical staff in line with HammondCare’s values.
• Teach medical students and trainee doctors as opportunities arise.
• Participate in research projects related to palliative care when available.

Required profile

• Registered (or registerable) Specialist Medical Practitioner in Palliative Care Medicine in Australia (AHPRA) with FRACP, FAChPM or equivalent qualification.
• Credentialed experience in multidisciplinary specialist practice.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Organisational skills and capacity to supervise.
• Willingness to engage in teaching and research.
• Current driver’s licence; research qualification is desirable.
