Multi‑Skilled Plant Operator

About the role

Glenorchy City Council is looking for an experienced Multi‑Skilled Plant Operator to support its Capital Works Program. You will operate heavy plant and equipment while carrying out construction and maintenance tasks on municipal roads, drainage systems, and other civil infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy plant (up to 24 t GVM) for earthworks, concreting, and pipe‑laying activities.
• Perform hands‑on construction and maintenance of roads, drainage, and civil works.
• Maintain plant and equipment, complete work documentation and conduct inspections.
• Implement traffic management plans and adhere to WHS standards.
• Interpret technical plans, record project data and communicate with team members and the public.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in civil infrastructure and roadworks construction.
• Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence and a valid White Card.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and initiative.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.

Required skills

• Heavy plant operation (up to 24 t GVM).
• Concrete works and advanced formwork.
• Pipe laying to line and grade.
• Reading and interpreting technical plans and drawings.
• Medium Rigid Driver’s Licence.
• White Card (Construction Induction).
