Multi‑Skilled Civil Labourer

About the role

Glenorchy City Council is looking for a motivated Multi‑Skilled Labourer to support the delivery of high‑quality road, drainage and civil infrastructure projects. You will work on a variety of construction and maintenance tasks while ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and clear worksites for civil construction projects.
• Maintain and construct roads, drainage systems and related civil assets.
• Carry out earthworks, concreting, asphalt works, formwork and pipe laying.
• Operate small plant and equipment such as compactors and rollers safely.
• Drive rigid motor vehicles up to 15 tonnes GVM.
• Implement traffic control procedures to protect the public and workers.
• Read and interpret construction plans and record as‑built data.
• Adhere strictly to Work Health and Safety standards.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Civil Construction or 5–10 years recent experience with asphalt, concrete, formwork and pipe laying.
• Traffic Management Accreditation (RIIWHS205E and RIIWHS302E).
• Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence.
• White Card (Construction Induction).
• Strong problem‑solving ability and initiative.
• Good literacy, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.
