Medical Officer – Private Practice & Emergency (Baralaba)

About the role

The Baralaba Multipurpose Health Service seeks a qualified Medical Officer to deliver both hospital and private‑practice services in a rural setting. You will provide emergency care, general practice medicine and primary health services while supporting a 24/7 on‑call roster.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to hospital inpatients and private‑practice patients, including accident and emergency response.
• Run a daily public outpatient clinic and conduct ward rounds at Baralaba MPHS.
• Participate in a 24‑hour, 7‑day‑a‑week on‑call roster to ensure continuous medical coverage.
• Maintain and develop clinical skills relevant to contemporary rural medical practice.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent, eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certifications with ongoing CME.
• Enrolment or acceptance into a Specialist General Practice training program (or eligibility for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme).
• Commitment to work towards Fellowship of FACRRM or FRACGP (highly desirable).

What we offer

• Salary range $187,569 – $199,273 per annum (plus superannuation, leave loading and allowances).
• Total remuneration up to $350,690 per annum.
