Legal Secretary

About the role

The Supreme Court of Victoria is seeking a Legal Secretary to join a small, high‑performing team that supports judicial officers across all divisions. This hybrid role combines onsite work in the Melbourne CBD with flexible arrangements, providing confidential administrative assistance to judges and senior court staff.

Key responsibilities

• Type judgments, correspondence and memoranda with a minimum speed of 90 wpm.
• Review judgments for consistency and compliance with internal style guides and the Australian Guide to Legal Citation.
• Liaise with the Law Library of Victoria regarding the publication of judgments.
• File documents and organise travel arrangements for judicial officers.
• Provide high‑level secretarial and administrative support to judges across the Court of Appeal, Criminal, Commercial, Common Law divisions and Associate Judges’ Chambers.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering secretarial support in a fast‑paced legal environment.
• Strong prioritisation, time‑management and attention to detail.
• Excellent spelling, grammar and professional discretion.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a small team.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Word proficiency.
