Legal Officer – NSW Early Learning Commission

About the role

The NSW Early Learning Commission is seeking a Legal Officer to provide high‑level legal services, advice and advocacy across a range of regulatory matters. This full‑time position supports the Commission’s mission to ensure safe, high‑quality early childhood education and care services throughout New South Wales.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on the development and implementation of standards, policies and procedures.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, policies, court documents and briefing materials.
• Represent or coordinate representation for the Commission before courts and tribunals.
• Supervise and mentor staff to build legal capability within the team.
• Deliver legal training and support capability uplift for internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Legal qualifications and a current NSW practising certificate (or eligibility).
• Experience in one or more relevant legal areas such as regulatory compliance, contract law, or administrative law.
