Legal Counsel – Review Team (Employee Conduct & Accountability)

About the role

Join NAB’s Review Team within the Employee Conduct and Accountability division as a Legal Counsel. You will support governance, risk reviews, investigations and learning initiatives, helping to protect the bank and its customers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational and analytical support for Fact Finds, Learning Reviews and Consequence Investigations.
• Gather, organise and analyse evidence – documents, system data, interview notes and governance artefacts – to ensure thorough, fair and timely reviews.
• Prepare high‑quality documentation and reports that inform governance decisions and enterprise‑level learning.
• Ensure review activities comply with NAB’s accountability framework, legal professional privilege, procedural fairness and regulatory obligations such as CPS 511 and the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR).
• Identify process improvements and contribute to the refinement of review tools and methodologies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role within risk, compliance, legal, internal audit or investigations, preferably in financial services.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks including CPS 511 and FAR.
• Experience in a structured review or investigation environment with knowledge of procedural fairness and legal privilege.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking and clear communication skills.
• Proven stakeholder management ability with influence at all organisational levels.
