IT Solutions Engineer (DevOps & Observability)

About the role

Avocado is seeking a senior IT Solutions Engineer with a focus on DevOps and observability. The role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne and operates in a hybrid model, supporting both on‑premise and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Build relationships with application and cloud infrastructure engineers to identify monitoring gaps and deliver observability solutions.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to Application, Infrastructure and DevOps teams for dashboard and alert creation.
• Coach junior engineers to enable self‑service monitoring implementation.
• Maintain on‑prem and cloud monitoring solutions, including installation, patching and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with Operations Leadership to produce metrics, forecast demand and report system health.
• Lead change‑control processes for production deployments.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in observability and monitoring engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with a broad range of automation and monitoring tools.
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members.

Required skills

• Dynatrace (knowledge or experience is advantageous).
