HSEQT Manager

About the role

Thiess is seeking an experienced HSEQT Manager to lead health, safety, environment, quality and training functions at the Gruyere Gold project. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering robust HSEQ support across the site while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and maintain safety operations, staff, systems and culture on site, collaborating with all departments.
• Attend client and senior leadership meetings to plan work activities and provide safety direction.
• Lead, mentor and oversee on‑site safety staff, ensuring effective health and safety operations.
• Investigate incidents, review work packs and SWMS, and promote continuous safety improvement.
• Coordinate and implement the training and competency framework.
• Monitor compliance with client processes, project standards and report safety trends.
• Participate in daily pre‑starts/toolboxes, championing safety, sustainability and innovation.
• Provide guidance on WHS best practices, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to close audit findings and manage safety in design.
• Champion health, wellbeing and inclusion initiatives to enhance workforce safety and diversity.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of senior‑level health and safety experience in mining, construction or heavy industry.
• Proven leadership of advisory and coordination teams in a high‑risk environment.
• Strong enthusiasm for workplace safety culture and training.
• Deep understanding of mining industry policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

Required skills

• Incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
• Development and review of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
• Training coordination and competency framework implementation.
• Audit management and corrective action tracking.
