Head of Year – Secondary School (Lewisham)

About the role

The school is seeking an experienced teacher to take on the Head of Year position from September 2026. You will lead a year group within a secondary school that values behaviour, pastoral care, and academic achievement equally.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee attendance, safeguarding, wellbeing and progress for the assigned year group.
• Lead on behaviour and attendance strategies, ensuring consistent expectations.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, families and external partners.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and non‑teaching pastoral staff to maintain a calm, purposeful culture.
• Support staff through clear leadership and guidance, reducing low‑level disruptions.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (UK QTS) with secondary teaching experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead on behaviour, attendance and pupil wellbeing.
• High expectations and a genuine commitment to academic and personal development of pupils.
• Strong relational skills with pupils, colleagues and families.
