Head of Strategy – Financial Services

About the role

This senior position leads the strategy function of a top‑tier financial services organisation. You will work closely with senior executives to shape long‑term direction and drive enterprise‑wide initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of group‑wide strategic initiatives aligned to the corporate plan.
• Identify and assess strategic opportunities using qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Frame and structure complex strategic problems with best‑practice frameworks.
• Drive cross‑functional workstreams, collaborating with business leaders, SMEs and external advisors.
• Develop strategic options, recommendations and implementation roadmaps.
• Present recommendations to senior leadership and steering committees.
• Facilitate workshops and influence senior stakeholders on strategic priorities.

Required profile

• 6–12 years of experience in strategy, preferably from top‑tier management consulting (MBB, LEK, Kearney, Oliver Wyman) or a leading corporate strategy team.
• Experience at Engagement Manager, Senior Manager, Principal or equivalent level.
• Strong background in structured problem solving, strategic frameworks and hypothesis‑driven analysis.
• Advanced financial modelling, business case development and scenario analysis capabilities.
• Exposure to banking or financial services strategy is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics, finance, statistics or a related discipline.
