Head of People – Parental Leave Cover (Contract/Fractional)

About the role

Gumtree Group is seeking a senior HR leader to cover a nine‑month parental leave. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will own the People & Culture function and drive the execution of a strategic people roadmap during a critical phase of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end People & Culture function, including HR, Talent and Workplace services.
• Execute the FY26‑27 People roadmap and align it with business objectives.
• Partner with the ELT on people strategy, performance management, remuneration cycles and workforce planning.
• Evolve the employee value proposition, culture and overall employee experience within an established framework.
• Drive organisation‑wide change initiatives, including operating model evolution and team‑structure alignment.
• Ensure strong execution across multiple concurrent workstreams and maintain alignment between strategy, structure and capability.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR and Talent Acquisition leadership experience across strategic and operational domains.
• Background in both corporate and scale‑up environments, preferably within technology or digital businesses.
• Demonstrated ability to lead organisational design and large‑scale transformation in complex settings.
• Commercially pragmatic with strong judgement and the ability to balance people, cost and business performance.
• Deep knowledge of Australian employment legislation and best practices.
