Head of Department – Psychology (Academic Leadership)

About the role

The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC) is seeking an experienced academic leader to head its new Bachelor of Psychology programme. This senior position will shape the direction, quality and compliance of psychology education within a nationally recognised provider.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Psychology.
• Ensure programme compliance with APAC, HESF and other industry standards.
• Oversee accreditation, curriculum review, quality assurance and governance processes.
• Embed ethical, evidence‑based, culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices.
• Engage with industry partners, external stakeholders and professional bodies to enhance student outcomes.

Required profile

• PhD in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
• Proven academic leadership experience at Academic Level C or above.
• Extensive background in higher‑education teaching, curriculum design, assessment and quality assurance.
• Strong knowledge of APAC accreditation and academic governance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead staff, support student success and contribute to scholarly activity.
