Group Financial Controller

About the role

McNab is seeking a Group Financial Controller to lead its finance function at scale. This senior position partners with Finance, Commercial and Operations teams to ensure accurate, compliant reporting that drives better business decisions across the construction group.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group month‑end reporting, delivering timely, accurate and high‑quality financial statements.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and performance reports, providing clear variance analysis.
• Maintain integrity of financial ledgers and enforce strong controls over transactions and reporting.
• Oversee year‑end processes, including audit coordination and statutory financial reporting.
• Manage tax compliance across the group in collaboration with external advisors.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as ATO and QBCC requirements.
• Support banking relationships, including covenant compliance and reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement of finance systems, processes and controls.
• Partner with Commercial and Operations teams to enhance financial understanding and decision‑making.
• Mentor and develop the finance team, building capability and consistency.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualification.
• Significant experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader in a multi‑entity environment.
• Strong technical accounting expertise across reporting, tax and compliance.
• Proven track record of improving systems, processes and controls.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Background in construction or project‑based environments is highly regarded.
