Experienced BESS Engineer – Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking an experienced BESS Engineer to join our Power Generation team in Sydney. You will play a leading role in designing and delivering battery energy storage and hybrid generation solutions that support carbon‑neutral, sustainable projects for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review detailed design documentation for BESS and hybrid generation systems, including single‑line diagrams, design specifications, sizing calculations and general arrangement drawings.
• Lead delivery of BESS Owner Engineer projects, conducting design and construction reviews to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Provide engineering support for utility‑scale BESS projects, coordinating technical specifications, contract requirements and stakeholder inputs.
• Collaborate with procurement and commercial teams to evaluate vendor proposals, select appropriate technologies and ensure projects meet agreed technical specifications.
• Offer hands‑on support during execution, including site visits, troubleshooting and technical oversight for successful commissioning.
• Develop concept designs, feasibility studies and equipment selection for BESS, hybrid generation and balance‑of‑plant components.
• Engineer grid connection solutions, working with the grid team on high‑voltage network requirements and grid studies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical engineering for battery energy storage or hybrid generation projects.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and regulatory frameworks for power infrastructure.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and clients.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail throughout the design and delivery phases.
