Director, Production - APAC

About the role

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Director of Production for its Theatrical Group across the APAC region. Reporting to Disney Theatrical Group (DTG) producers in New York, you will lead large‑scale musical theatre events, self‑produced shows and tours throughout Australia, New Zealand, South‑East Asia, China and Japan.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of APAC production teams, including senior staff, cast and crew.
• Manage vendor relationships, internal casting processes and local creative talent sourcing.
• Lead budgeting, financial tracking and commercial negotiations to meet regional targets.
• Collaborate with DTG New York production and distribution teams to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
• Ensure smooth execution of self‑produced DTG productions across the APAC market.

Required profile

• Extensive general management experience in large‑scale musical productions.
• Proven ability to lead diverse, sizeable teams and negotiate complex contracts.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with a track record of meeting budget goals.
• Demonstrated inclusive leadership and relationship‑building skills within the entertainment industry.
• Strategic and tactical thinking with the capacity to navigate complex scenarios.
